It takes little time for you to switch from the first mission to the second mission. If you like Freedom Fighters or SOCOM or SOCOM II you'll like this game too. Objective Four: Complete your mission objective without losing any squad members. If you just go in guns blazing the enemy AI realizes you're there and opens up on you, which usually ends up being very bad for you and your squad, particularly if there's a tank involved.Overall, this is a great game and a lot of fun. It's not just a straight shooter, sometimes you've got to use stealth and it makes the level easier. I do wish they'd have let you capture or kill Saddam, but in real life he escaped Baghdad so he might as well have escaped here too. There's a variety of weapons to use, including smoke grenades when you need to hide behind some cover (VERY useful on the levels when you encounter tanks which can only be destroyed by laying mines, using C4 or RPG's.)Your squad AI is also very intelligent mostly, as is the enemy AI.There's also an element of strategy involved with some parts of levels, and some entire levels. It also checks off the objectives you've done so you don't end up trying to accomplish the same objective twice.I haven't made it to the ending yet, so I don't know if the ending is any good or not. The buttons are pretty straight forward and easy to learn, and the objectives for each level are only a select button away if you forget what you need to do. The squad based play is great, you can control any of your squad members depending on the level and what you need to do. Unlike many sequels, this game is MUCH better than the original. The multiplayer levels are bland, so multiplayer won't keep you entertained for very long.In the end, Conflict Desert Storm 2 is a much improved sequel, but you should buy SOCOM 2 first, even if you don't have a network adaptor. While SOCOM's levels are varied and take place all over the world Conflict 2's levels are all set in the desert, and begin to look quite simialr. There is also 4 player split screen, but sadly, no online play. The levels are better, but could still use a little work. Bullets will no longer just pass through people. The collision detection is much improved. Troops no longer make stupid decisions, and the act more life-like. The sound is what you would expect, with cheesy voices and good background music. The computer AI is probably the biggest improvement. The choppy, unrealistic animation from the first game is gone as well. Explosions look better, and the enviroments are not near as bland. Conflict: Desert Storm 2 takes place in the early 90s, following the events of the first game.Graphically, the game is much more detailed.
